Roadmap of Current Concerns in Transhumanism and AI

The following are the principal directions in which I intend to develop the framework of the privileged node and its intellectual exoskeleton:

  • Human privilege as an axiom. The human is privileged because we freely choose human purposes, experience, and value as the center of the system—not because human cognition must remain computationally superior. Present LLMs do not appear capable of making the same existential choice.

  • The scale of the privileged node. Is the relevant node the individual human agent, or greater human society understood as an arguably superintelligent mass composed increasingly of augmented human elements?

  • The full Sandbergian sphere. Develop intelligence amplification across the porous internal/external and hardware/software axes, including biological capacity, learned mental methods, external memory, computation, AI, and collective intelligence.

  • The formative relationship between node and exoskeleton. The human creates and modifies the exoskeleton, but the exoskeleton also changes the human’s memory, language, attention, habits, possibilities, and personality. The same bidirectional formation occurs between augmented individuals and wider society.

  • Memory, language, and the disclosed world. Develop the Heideggerian and Derridean implications of internal memory and external archives as conditions shaping what can become meaningful, salient, and experienceable—including the very language through which experience is articulated and the experience of meaning itself.

  • Association precedes retrieval: the Proustian cache. Proustian moments require internal traces capable of being activated and recombined. This applies not only to autobiographical memory, but also to clinical insight, intellectual association, and creativity. External search can answer a formulated query, but it cannot reliably recover a connection the person does not know to seek.

  • The colonization of being-in-the-world. Develop how smartphones, capture systems, archives, and AI can cause the world to appear primarily as content to record, classify, retrieve, share, or optimize—and what this transformation does to meaning and experience.

  • AI as intellectual training. Explore AI systems designed to elicit recall, explanation, prediction, criticism, and revision.

  • The flat part of the curve. Investigate whether augmented humans can reach the practical plateau of important capability-performance curves without approaching AI in raw cognitive capacity—and what this implies for the continued potency of human intelligence.

These topics form the immediate development agenda. Anki, the AI tax, deskilling and never-skilling, existential and relational grounding, and a practical research program remain important but belong to later work.
